As predicted the cost of traveling to the Word Cup has shot up since the draw was made last week. Many fans have been shocked with how much airlines are charging while hotels and car hire firms have also come in for strong criticism.

English supporters were delighted with a relatively kind world cup draw and the promise of three wins to kick off the tournament. This joy was quickly soured however for those who had not already made travel arrangements with flight prices soaring.

The only flights with BA from Johannesburg to London departing two days before the tournament are priced at three thousand pounds plus. There has also been a significant increase in prices on South African Airways routes.

England’s first three games will take place in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth/ Nelson Mandela Bay and Rustenburg.

It has also been reported that hotels in South Africa are asking for ten times their usual rates in some cases. There have also been reported rises in car hire South Africa prices with certain firms accused of hiking up their prices.
