East London Airport caters for around three hundred and fifty thousand passengers annually. Around a third of the traffic to this airport is due to tourism with international tourists making up fifteen percent of that number. There are also a large number of Cargo flights making the airport a vital part of this region.

East London Airport currently operates at around half its capacity. The airport has had a chequered history being moved to various sites before settling in 1965. It was formally known as Ben Schoeman Airport.

Four airlines offer domestic routes from the airport. These are South African Express, 1Time, South African Airlink and South African Airways. Destinations include all the major South African cities such as Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Cape Town.

There are some superb golden beaches to relax on as well as excellent waves to be caught for surf fans in locations such as Nahoon Reef. The harbour in East London is the only one of its kind in the country. You will find some excellent places to eat and drink along here
