The KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Gardens are an excellent location for a long relaxing stroll. It is a beautiful setting with an excellent restaurant located centrally.

An important local sports event, the Comrades Marathon is run every year. It involves running to Durban and back. Bruce Fordyce has won this event a record nine times.
