Durban has the 3rd highest population in South Africa. It has been well known as a bustling port town down through the years. It has attracted tourists in large numbers over the years due in no small part to it stunning beaches and hot climate.

Marine World on Bell St is an excellent place for all the family with a giant aquarium to marvel at as well as various rides for the kids to take part in at Waterworld. If you are in Durban at the right time of year then you may get to see the A1 Grand Prix which runs from the coast of North Beach towards the Suncoast Casino.

If horse racing is your thing then you can head for the Greyville Race Course. More sea world exploration can be undertaken at the Shark Institute which includes a boat trip.

Some of the main events happening in Durban during the year include the International Festival of Poetry (October) and the Festival of Writing (March). The film festival occurs in July or August each year.
